Steve Dorfman has more than a decade of executive experience in the insurance industry and a deep belief that all Americans deserve the best possible healthcare outcomes. He founded Simple Health in 2012 to help Americans from all walks of life navigate the often confusing healthcare marketplace.
A native Floridian, Dorfman grew up near Fort Lauderdale, attending the prestigious University School at Nova Southeastern University. Later, he enrolled at Appalachian State University, in the beautiful mountain town of Boone, North Carolina. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Dorfman began his career in an entry-level insurance sales role and rose quickly through the ranks. Within three years, he was named vice president of sales at America’s Health Brokers, a growing healthcare marketplace firm. The following year, in 2010, he was named CEO of America’s Health Care Plans (AHCP), where he remained for two years before leaving to launch Simple Health.
Steve Dorfman timed Simple Health’s launch to coincide with the rollout of the Affordable Care Act. In those first months and all the years since, he has never wavered from a core commitment to bring choice and transparency to the once-opaque healthcare landscape. Simple Health is now licensed to offer insurance plans in all 50 states to a full spectrum of healthcare consumers.
Dorfman is a relentless advocate for gender equality in STEM fields and the workplace in general. He has received multiple accolades over the years, including “40 Under 40: Top Young Entrepreneur” and Insurance Industry “Up and Comer.”
